        Paul  Gilbert  Ph.D.  is  a  Professor  of  ical  Psychology  and  a  sultant  ical  Psychologist  to  the  Derbyshire  Mental  Health  Trust.  Since  1991,  he  has  been  a  fellow  of  the  British  Psychological  Society.  A  graduate  of  Wolverhampton  Polyteic,  he  received  a  master  of  sce  degree  in  experimental  psychology  from  Sussex  Uy.  He  pleted  a  Ph.D.  at  the  Uy  of  Edinburgh  in  1980,  the  same  year  he  qualified  as  a  ical  psychologist.  Dr.  Gilbert  practiced  with  the  Norfolk  Health  Authority  until  he  left  for  Derbyshire  as  principal  ical  psychologist  in  1988.  Twice  serving  as  ag  director  of  its  department  of  ical  psychology,  he  assumed  his  present  position  with  the  health  authority  in  1993  and  his  professorship  in  1996.  While  maintaining  an  active  ical  practice,  he  is  also  director  of  the  Mental  Health  Researit,  which  is  a  collaboratioween  Derby  Uy  and  the  Mental  Health  Trust.  He  has  served  as  president  of  the  British  Association  fnitive  and  Behavioural  Psychotherapies,  member  of  the  National  Institute  for  Health  and  ical  ExcellenICE)  ittee,  associate  editor  of  the  British  Journal  of  Medical  Psychology,  and  associate  editor  for  The  Journal  of  itive  Psychotherapy,  as  well  as  serving  on  the  editorial  boards  of  ical  Psychology  and  Psychotherapy  and  the  British  Journal  of  ical  Psychology.  He  has  published  more  than  60  journal  articles  and  approximately  30  book  chapters.  Dr.  Gilbert  is  the  editor  of  eight  books  and  is  also  the  author  of  eight  books.
